| Ik ben op doep.web-log.nl bezig met een item over het ontstaan van dance, en het beroep dj in het algemeen. Nou weet ik het meeste wel uit mijn hoofd, maar heeft iemand nog een paar handige naslagwerken? | |

| nee idd wil ik ook wel es lezen. De meeste mensen schrijven echt onzin op. Om alles uit te zoeken moet je heeeeeel ver terug de tijd in gaan. niet 30 jaar, niet 100 jaar, maar duizenden jaren. | |

| het gaat toch OOK om het onstaan van de DJ... De DJ is de oudste vorm van entertaiment. 1 centrale man / vrouw die muziek maakt / draait. Duizenden jaren geleden sloeg men op trommels / zong. Andere mensen dansten daar om heen. Beetje hetzelfde concept. Die mensen waren ook een soort Dj's. En de eerste echte DJ kwam in de jaren 30. Kortom wil je het onstaan van de DJ en de dance (dance is niet persé electronisch) beschrijven, dan kan je niet om dat feit heen. En als je mij niet gelooft, Lees de boeken, praat met oudere mensen. Ik vind dat iedereen voordat hij / zij gaat dj'n de geschiedenis moet weten. | |

| House is niet alleen uit disco voortgekomen, maar ook uit Electro, Juan Atkins en consorten waren daar al lang geleden mee bezig. Innercity (Kevin Saunderson) was hier ook al eind jaren 80 mee bezig, KLF kwam met "What time is Love" uit in '86, Joey Beltram met Energy Flash in 1990 etc. Dit zijn meer techno/electro platen. Er zijn van die sukkels die beweren met house bezig te zijn sinds de jaren '70, wat niet klopt, maar er werden toen wel veel electronische geluiden en muziek gemaakt. Trouwens, weet niet of iemand Wheather Report kent? Ik weet wel zeker dat funky house en bepaalde trance daar vandaan komt. De groep Wheather Report was er al in de jaren '70. Trouwens, Ben Liebrand met zijn grandmixen eind jaren '80 had naast disco en pop ook voorlopers van house in zijn mixen verwerkt, allemaal electro. House/electro kwam min of meer begin jaren '80 op de dansvloer, en de echte house/hardcore/mellow werd begin jaren '90 in Nederland pas echt populair. In de begin jaren '90 werd tevens al heel snel onderscheid gemaakt tussen Mellow en hardcore. En van stijlen als trance (die er overigens wel waren maar niet zo werden genoemd) was pas sprake na de goa trance. Iedereen ging pas midden jaren '90 met de naam trance smijten, min of meer toen de goa al bijna verdwenen was in Nederland. In Duitsland meen ik trouwens dat ze alles gewoon techno noemen en daar een heleboel stijlen in proppen. De Tressor in Berlijn is 7 dagen per week open 24 uur per dag, met verschillende zalen en stijlen. Weet niet of dit nog wat kan toevoegen?  | |

| Hier is de tekst van m'n presentatie Engels, tekst is nog in Engels maar lijkt me niet zo'n probleem toch. Verwacht er niet te veel van, gewoon basic informatie... House Music The history of House Music starts in Chicago. Actually, house music is a follow up to Disco. About the year 1980 the first House sounds were born. New technologies such as ‘digital’ music in combination with still influences of the Disco sounds made this new music style. The creator of this style was Frankie Knuckles, a New York DJ. In the year 1977 Frankie was asked to be DJ in a new club in Chicago. He took the offer en started as DJ in the ‘Warehouse’. He developed a style with influences of disco, funk and even European music. The public of the club was very enthousiast about his style and because the club was also known as the ‘House’ the style also got this name. A new music style was born! Frankie didn’t play only original records, surtenly when the coming of new disco records stopped, he started to mixed old records and played them in the Warehouse. Not a long time after the Warehouse was famous about the music, local radio stations started to play House music. Records which were played in the Warehouse were also played on this radio stations. Also a lot of own stuff, self mixed records was played in those radio shows. House music did get more and more fans. Other clubs saw the start of a new hype and in the year 1983 there were 3 ‘House’ clubs in Chicago. DJ’s such as Frankie Knuckles, Ron Hardy & Jessie Saunders were the resident DJ’s of those clubs. DJ is the abbreviation of Disc Jockey. But these DJ’s didn’t play music from discs. Everything was still on tape. But Jessie Saunders came in contact with an owner of a record press company. Together they start an own label for House records. In the beginning the only released Jessie’s records, because this was already a big success, they decided to release also records of other House DJ’s and producers under the label name ‘Trax’. In the end of 1986 House got international. A few House DJ’s went on tour in England and the Netherlands. I was clear that the English en the Dutch club public wasn’t ready for this new style of music. Meanwhile the development of House music in Chicago went on and on. But the scene there started to fall apart. Despite of this the House music was still alive or even more than that. You can say that House is the beginning of the dance music we now know. The first real beats were born in that period. During the House period, there was also another dance style in development in another American city: Detroit. This style was called Techno. | |
