idd, maar als er iets is met een prog onder linux of wel ander opensource os kun je altijd nog zelf naar de code kijken en evt zo hacken dat het wel gaat werken.

The last table entry lists the Win2K Service Pack 3 (SP3) versions of mrxsmb.sys and rdbss.sys. SP3 went public on August 1, 2002. On my SP3 systems, mrxsmb.sys and rdbss.sys have version number 5.0.2195.5434, which predate even the April 4 update (Q318789) immediately above the last line. We can only conclude that the SP3 redirector components systems are more than 12 versions out-of-date. We’ve progressed, if you can call it that, from version 5534 in April to version 6067 in just a few months. Want to place bets on how many new versions are waiting in the wings?
To complicate matters further, none of these patches are available for public download. If Microsoft releases six updates in 3 months for OS components that support and manage access to remote resources, the company needs to provide a public download option. A less desirable but minimally acceptable alternative is to have Microsoft rate mrxsmb.sys changes as critical and publish them on the Windows Update site. I couldn't confirm that the most recent versions of both components contain all the patches for earlier problems. Although I suspect this is most likely the case, it would be nice to verify that the September 23 version (5.0.2195.6067) is a rollup of all earlier releases.

Very Interesting, I was having problems with my server locking up and I called Microsoft and recieved an even newer version than you list here. The hotfix is Q811005, the version of both mrxsmb and rdbss are 5.00.2195.6654. Actually I had another problem at the same time which they gave me a...
zijn alle 2k en xp systemen apart geinstalleerd of zijn er ghost images gebruikt. Windows 2k en hoger heeft namelijk een 'geweldig' systeem met security id's die tijdens de install worden gegenereerd. Als je een ghost image gebruikt heb je kans dat er meerdere met hetzelde security id op het netwerk zitten. (en dat mag niet van ome bill)
Doet het probleem zich ook voor als je 1 client met een crosscable aan de server hangt?
Als je je netwerk sniffed terwijl je die foutmelding krijgt zie je dan tussendoor een vreemd packet? Of zie je in de sniffer wie wanneer de fout maakt?

Je meld dat samba ook nog gebruikt wordt voor filesharing. Is het niet zo dat de windows PDC en samba ruzie zitten te maken wie nu de baas op het netwerk is? Ik heb dat probleem iig wel eens gezien en je vermeld alleen iets over eventlogs en niet de log.nmb, log.nmbd, log.smb en log.smbd. Misschien vind je daar iets nuttigs.
